the third of the three articles based on three lectures given by Dr. Keiko Koda
and Dr. Ke Sihui in BLCU in 2017.
【Special
Column on Text-Based Teaching】 “A Discourse-Based Comparative Study
of ‘Ni hao ma?’ and ‘Ni hao’” compares the two greetings “Ni hao ma?” and “Ni hao” based on discourse analysis, showing that “Ni hao ma?” is more difficult to acquire
and therefore should not be taught at the beginning of a textbook to novice
learners. “Text-Based Exercises in CFL Grammar Textbooks: Problems and
Solutions”, through a statistical study of 11 influential non-curricular grammar
textbooks, compares and analyzes the text-based exercises in them from three
aspects – types, categories and amount, and puts forward some solutions to the
problems pointed out.
Cui Yonghua is an expert in Chinese language teaching and
textbook compilation and a retired BLCU professor, whose research interests
include Chinese grammar, TCFL, and Chinese information processing.
Cui Jian is a BLCU professor, whose research interests include
language typology, cross-language comparison and bilingual education.
Keiko Koda is a
professor at Carnegie Mellon University (the US), whose research interests include
second language development, bilingual reading, and foreign language teaching
methodology.
